In 2013, concerns about access to pediatric antiretroviral therapy (ART) prompted the program-coordinating board of UNAIDS to request a gap analysis and time-bound targets for getting all children living with HIV on treatment. Currently only 24% of children eligible for ART are on treatment compared with 38% of adults.

This treatment gap is highlighted in the March 2015 issue of The Lancet HIV. EGPAF’s Senior Director of Technical Leadership, Innovations, and Sustainability Francesca Celletti, M.D. along with her co-authors outline the path that must be taken to improve access to pediatric HIV treatment and achieve UNAIDS’ new 90-90-90 targets for children living with HIV.

Read the full article authored by Dr. Celletti and her co-authors Jennifer Cohn, M.D., of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF);  Catherine Connor, J.D., Senior Director, Public Policy and Advocacy, EGPAF; Marc Lallemant, M.D., Head of Paediatric HIV Program, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), and Janice Soo Fern Lee, M. Pharm., Project Manager, Paediatric HIV Program, DNDi.
