"In the face of the grave threat posed by HIV/AIDS, we have to rise above our differences and combine our efforts to save our people. History will judge us harshly if we fail to do so, and right now." -Nelson Mandela

As we mourn the passing of Nelson Mandela, we also celebrate the life of a man who gave so much to the battle against HIV/AIDS in his native South Africa, and throughout the world.  Through his charity 46664, his Foundation, and his constant and passionate advocacy, Pres. Mandela brought awareness and urgency to the epidemic and the continuing quest for elimination.  His legacy lives on in the work and hearts of countless others who will ensure that history will recall only our success in eliminating forever the threat of HIV/AIDS.

Nelson Mandela died on December 5, 2013 at his home in South Africa, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
