Saturday March 1, 2014 is Zero Discrimination Day, a day set aside to frankly discuss the debilitating stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. As we wrap up our Black History Month series with an overview of some of our best pieces, we will also celebrate people who have the courage to speak up and speak out against HIV stigma and advocate for #ZeroDiscrimination.

Huffington Post – “What Happens When You Ask A Thousand HIV-affected Children How They Feel” – Researcher John Miller visited one of Cape Town’s poorest townships and interviewed more than 2,000 people living with HIV as a part of a qualitative research study. Along the way, he gained an appreciation for the difficulties of living with HIV/AIDS.
United Nations – “Ahead of Zero Discrimination Day, UN agency appeals for tolerance, dignity for all” – On March 1, the world will unite to celebrate “Zero Discrimination Day,” a day set aside to demand tolerance and dignity for all people living with HIV/AIDS. Michel Sidibé, Executive Director of the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) urges the global community to transform the way we think and talk about HIV/AIDS.
The Daily Mail -- “Victoria Beckham visits Cape Town to support Born Free initiative to end mother-to-child HIV transmission” -- Last week, fashion designer and model Victoria Beckham visited Cape Town to support the Born Free Initiative – an initiative dedicated to ending mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015. While in Cape Town, Beckham also met with EGPAF Foundation Ambassador Florence Ngobeni Allen at the Delft Community Health Center.
