What We’re Reading: Advances in HIV/AIDS Prevention and the State of the World’s Children Report

This week, we’re reading about new advances into HIV/AIDS prevention, the State of the World’s Children in 2014, and breaking down stereotypes about HIV/AIDS.

The Swazi Observer --- “US Embassy donates E5m medical equipment” --  The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) in collaboration with Project C.U.R.E (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment)  donated medical equipment and supplies worth more than U.S. $500,000 to the Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to help strengthen health services provided to mothers, infants, and children in the country.

EGPAF“State of the World’s Children Report 2014” – EGPAF examines UNICEF’s “State of the World’s Children 2014 in Numbers” report, which identifies and addresses the gaps that prevent the most disadvantaged of the world's 2.2 billion children from accessing basic human rights.

EGPAF“Field Notes: Marching for AIDS Action in Swaziland” – Led by drum majorettes from the Siphocosini and Bhekephi schools, marchers chanted and danced up two miles of hills from Ndlelalula to the Mahwalala Sports Ground outside the Red Cross Siphocosini Clinic to celebrate World AIDS Day.
